Hand Evaluation - The " I
" in D.S.I.P.
PITBULLS:
D.S.I.P. theory is highly dependent on partner executing the “I “ in D.S.I.P. . We assume
that partners are intelligent or why are they playing with you ? However partners are human
, so sometimes the “I “ takes on different meanings . A while back there
was some “brainstorming” by a group of us to find alternative words for the “I
“.

Theory is only as
good as the people playing it.
D.S.I.P. theory makes no
sense in match points & rubber Bridge .
IMPS has a different way of scoring which in my
opinion allows the removal
of trump stack doubles in competitive bidding. In return though , partner must have a high degree of judgment &
be able to do something intelligent
when required. D.S.I.P. is the inverse
or opposite of standard thinking.
A double means I want to bid
instead of discouraging bidding. A pass means I want to defend ( maybe with
a trump stack ) instead of encouraging partner to bid as in forcing pass theory
& the “green light” concept. A “free bid” or a bid does not exist to show extra
as partner would have always doubled initially. A bid is just a “noise” a la
last word Larry & Willard. Takes getting used to after decades of thinking differently.
